Another Career is Restarted with WorkBC Supports
November 9, 2020
For more than 10 years, Yvonne worked in Administration for a non-profit organization. Unfortunately, she lost her job when the company relocated. Yvonne began to job search and was able to find jobs but could not secure a permanent offer. Frustrated, Yvonne contacted the Langley WorkBC Centre.
At the Langley WorkBC Centre, Yvonne completed a needs assessment that determined that she needed additional job search skills and some renewed confidence. After receiving some one-to-one support and attending the Centre’s Interview Skills Workshop, Yvonne was able to get some interviews but still struggled to land a job. Her Career Coach referred her to the Centre’s Employment Placement Specialist to explore the Wage Subsidy Program.
Yvonne was deemed an excellent candidate for the Program. With the Wage Subsidy Letter in hand, Yvonne was connected to the Quo Vadis Ministry, a non-profit multimedia broadcasting organization. The organization was impressed by Yvonne and her experience and offered her a position as an Administrative Assistant. The 16 week Wage Subsidy Program will be used to train Yvonne on their industry specific software and practices.
From a message Yvonne sent to her Career Coach: “I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all your help and assistance throughout my journey of finding job, and be approved for the Wage Subsidy. It was truly a pleasure working with you and you are greatly appreciated!”
