Frankie’s Journey Back to Work
November 17, 2025
After more than 10 years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom, Frankie found herself ready but unsure about re-entering the workforce. Having been unemployed for over a decade, she felt unfamiliar with current workplace expectations, uncertain about changes to the industry, and unsure where to begin. Although she had past experience as a hair stylist, she lacked the tools, resources, and confidence needed to reconnect with employers.
That’s when Frankie connected with the Langley WorkBC Centre, and everything began to shift.
How WorkBC Langley Supported Frankie
From the start, Frankie’s Career Coach worked closely with her to understand her goals, identify gaps, and map out a clear pathway back to employment. Through WorkBC’s personalized and comprehensive supports, Frankie received:
- Career and labour-market guidance to help her understand current industry demands and expectations.
- Employment readiness support to ensure Frankie had the professional tools and confidence to re-enter her field.
- Essential work clothing and tools to help her meet workplace requirements and feel prepared for success.
- Commuting supports to remove transportation barriers and helping her transition back to work smoothly and stress-free.
One key moment in her journey came when her Career Coach encouraged her to reconnect with past employers for references. That conversation opened an unexpected door—and ultimately led to her current job offer.
In Frankie’s Words
“I’m grateful for the support that WorkBC provided, and they were able to help get things done quickly. If I hadn’t had to go looking for references at the request of my Career Coach, I would not have connected with a previous employer for my current position – I’m excited to start there!”
A New Beginning
Thanks to her determination and the tailored supports provided by the Langley WorkBC Centre, Frankie is now successfully employed and starting a new chapter in her career. Her journey is a reminder that with the right guidance, resources, and encouragement, returning to the workforce after many years is not only possible but achievable.
