JinHyun Finds Her Confidence — and a New Job — with Langley WorkBC

July 16, 2025

As a newcomer to Canada with years of office administration experience, JinHyun expected her skills to transfer smoothly to the Canadian job market. Instead, she was met with multiple challenges. “I didn’t know how to find job openings or where to apply,” she said. “Even though I had experience, I didn’t know how to write about my skills on a resume or present myself well in interviews.”

JinHyun applied to more than 100 jobs through online platforms but rarely heard back. When interviews did come, they were stressful. English is her second language, and expressing herself under pressure proved difficult. Worse still, some employers didn’t show up for scheduled interviews, and many were dismissive or unfriendly during follow-up calls. After three years away from the workforce to care for her family, the constant rejection chipped away at her confidence.

Everything changed when JinHyun connected with the Langley WorkBC Centre. There, she found the support she had been searching for. Career specialists helped her rewrite her resume and cover letter, taught her how to identify reputable job postings, and coached her through interview preparation with encouragement and practical strategies.

With this support, JinHyun landed a job at Reliable Fleet Services. Reflecting on her journey, she shares: “This is the best place for people who need real help to find work. WorkBC understood my problems with finding a job and helped me right away. They were very professional and supportive.”
