Langley Employer Has An Eye for Talent

September 17, 2020

RDM Enterprises is a long-standing, reputable and caring Langley company specializing in excavation, site preparation and construction project management. Recently RDM was in the local news announcing the completion of the new Langley Regional Airport terminal building – 55,000 square feet that will provide offices to not only airport management but also Tourism Langley, the Township of Langley, aerospace companies and associations and restaurants. RDM will now shift its focus from construction to management of the building.

Recently RDM hired two Langley WorkBC clients.

Valeria is a Civil Engineer who recently immigrated to Langley from Columbia. With the support of Langley WorkBC, Valeria was connected to RDM. Although Valeria’s English language skills are on the low end, RDM invited her to an interview at which she was warmly welcomed and made to feel very comfortable.  RDM offered Valeria a position within the Maintenance Department with the promise that as her English skills improve they will move her to work more aligned with her Civil Engineering background. To further support Valeria, RDM president Ron Madsen spoke directly with the LINC* Director in Langley to develop an English language program specifically for Valeria that would accommodate her work schedule.

Raquel was also hired by RDM. She is a Forestry Engineer also from Columbia. Although Raquel has local work experience, training, and certifications, she was struggling to find work aligned with her background and came to the Langley WorkBC Centre for help.  Although there was not a job vacancy, Raquel’s Career Coach introduced her to Ron, known for his eye for talent. She was almost immediately hired as a Construction Safety Officer for the Pitt Meadows Airport Project!

In Raquel’s words:  “WorkBC is one of the best things that have happened to me in the past 6 years.”

*LINC is short for the federally funded Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada program.
