Ready and Keen to Work

August 15, 2022

Langley WorkBC has and continues to provide employment services and supports to many displaced Ukrainians. These individuals have a range of work experience, skills and abilities. If you are an employer looking to fill positions, contact us at the Centre; many work-ready folks are ready and waiting to start work!

Liubov arrived from the Ukraine in May 2022. In her home country, Liubov was a librarian. As with many of displaced individuals, her English language skills are low. As a result, the Centre connected Liubov with a Ukrainian / Russian Employment Placement Specialist (EPS).

The EPS provided one-to-one workshops on resume building and how to prepare, find and maintain employment. The EPS reached out to the Centre’s network of employers open to hiring individuals with lower levels of English. An employer close to Liubov’s home looked ideal and the EPS set up an interview and provided translation support during the interview.

Liubov was hired as an Auto Detailer at Traveland RV on August 3rd. The EPS continued to provide support to ensure a smooth transition. Liubov is very happy with the position and very grateful for the support provided by the staff at the Langley WorkBC Centre.
