Trades Hiring Fair – Another WorkBC Langley Success
August 30, 2023
The WorkBC Langley’s ‘Celebrating Trades Hiring Fair’ was a resounding success. On August 24, 2023, four employers offering roles in over 20 positions with over 8 major projects in the Lower Mainland connected with potential employees throughout the day. This event promoted the diversity of jobs for candidates that are skilled into trades but have been unable to connect with the right employers. Additionally, it served to promote trades roles amongst refugees in Langley.

Registrants were provided ample time to interview and interact with every employer. Each employer was provided a room to conduct one-to-one interviews. Job seekers were able to connect with each employer for 7-10 minutes and learn more about each company and their opportunities. These meetings resulted in 6 on-the-spot offers with many others progressing to the 2nd round of the interview stage. Newcomers with low-English skills were able to find success in this event which demonstrates the continued demand for skilled workers in Canada.
