Volunteers needed to count spawning salmon in Maple Ridge

September 4, 2023

The Alouette River Management Society is looking for volunteers to help determine the health of local salmon runs.

A team of volunteers is needed to count and observe adult salmon returning to spawn in local creeks in the Alouette River watershed.

This task involves walking the banks of a stream weekly during the spawning season, from October to December, counting the fish, and observing their condition. This kind of survey is known as a foot survey. The volunteer team members will complete a data sheet for each survey.
