The Resumes & Cover Letters workshop is an interactive session designed to guide clients through drafting a professional and effective resumes and cover letters. Clients will learn the key components of a resume, such as contact information, summary, experience, education, and skills, as well as how to format it for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and create a visually appealing layout. The session will also address common resume mistakes and how to avoid them. Additionally, clients will gain the skills needed to write a tailored, non-formulaic cover letter that complements their resume and captures the attention of the hiring managers. This includes understanding the essential components of a cover letter, how to tailor it to specific job descriptions, and strategies for making a strong first impression, including mentioning the company name multiple times and incorporating its vision and mission when relevant. By the end, clients will have the tools to create a polished resume and a captivating cover letter that enhance their job applications.
This session focuses on effective job search strategies and the essential steps involved in finding employment. Clients will explore the Hidden Job Market, discussing what it is, where employers hide jobs, and why they do so. The session will further cover the Four Stages of a Job Opening, providing insight into the typical progression of job vacancies from creation to hiring. Focus on Social Media and Informational Interviews, importance of Follow-up, outlining Great Reasons to Follow-up and what types of follow-ups are necessary to maintain the job search process. Other useful tools such as Networking Business Cards/Calling Cards and making the most of Job Fairs.
Workshops start at 10am and run until 2:30pm.

The Interview skills workshop focuses on preparing clients for job interviews, ensuring they are equipped with the tools and knowledge to perform confidently and professionally. The session begins with the Interview Preparation Checklist, covering key steps for success, starting with receiving the interview call and preparing for the conversation. It then addresses what needs to be done Before the Interview, such as researching the company, practicing responses, and organizing materials.
The workshop also covers Commonly Asked Interview Questions, helping clients in anticipating and preparing their answers. Clients will learn Suggested Questions to Ask the Employer, emphasizing the importance of engaging in a two-way conversation during the interview. Also, Types of Interview Questions, such as behavioral or situational questions, and how to respond effectively. Clients will learn how to handle Illegal Interview Questions, ensuring they know their rights and how to respond professionally if faced with inappropriate question such as: age, gender, marital status, etc… The session then covers Best Interview Follow-up Tips, including the importance of sending a thank you letter within 24 hours and provides a Format for a Thank You Letter to help clients draft a professional message. Clients will also be introduced to various Websites for Salary Information to help them research and negotiate fair pay.

The Career Assessment Workshop provides a comprehensive evaluation of an individual’s career interests, values, personality, abilities and skills. It includes results from six assessments. Barriers to Employment, and Career Cruising. These assessments highlight key personal values, preferred work environments, learning styles and motivations, as well as career interests and potential barriers to employment. The summary also provides recommendations for exploring relevant occupations, skill development, and strategies to overcome obstacles. Finally, the report outlines targets to assist clients in their short-term, intermediate, and long-term career goals to help guide the clients toward employment.
Workshops run from 10am until 2:30pm.
