Job Goal Achieved

June 24, 2022

Dany came to the Langley WorkBC Centre looking for support to find work within the public sector. As a young mom, she had little work experience and had been unemployed for more than a year.

In November 2020, Dany came to the Centre looking for job search support and assistance connecting with employers in the public sector. She attended a series of job search workshops and was provided job search support by the Employment Placement Specialist (EPS). Using the Wage Subsidy Program, Dany was placed in an Admin / Sales position in January 2021. Unfortunately, this job required driving to various locations and Dany left the job.

Her EPS encouraged Dany to continue her search for a job within the public sector and provided her information and a connection to Elections Canada. Dany obtained a short-term contract with the agency and gained a good amount of experience. The EPS then invited Dany to attend a hiring fair with Services Canada and Dany had multiple interviews. After completing an extensive job application and providing documentation, Dany began her new job as a Passport Clerk on June 6, 2022. To ensure her success, WorkBC provided Dany funds to offset the costs of transportation for the first two weeks of her employment.

Dany is extremely happy with her new job and for all of the support she obtained from the Centre.
