Valuable Canadian Work Experience Supports Achievement of Career Goal

June 25, 2020

Dawn is a recent immigrant from China with a background in Early Childhood Education. As a new immigrant, Dawn had no Canadian work experience and no connections to employers. Shortly after arriving in Canada, she started a survival job as a Care Giver within the private sector.

Dawn realized that to get back into her chosen field, she needed professional career support and so she registered as a client at WorkBC Langley. Dawn received the full range of WorkBC services including Career Coaching and Job Search Workshops and Skills Enhancement Training. After successfully completing the in ECE program at Stenberg College, Dawn did a work experience placement. With the support of the Wage Subsidy Program, Dawn is now working full-time at New Beginnings Early Learning and gaining valuable Canadian experience as an Early Childhood Education teacher. Dawn has expressed her appreciation for the profession and supportive assistance she received from staff at the Langley WorkBC Centre and all of the training and supports she received from WorkBC.
