The Wage Subsidy Program supports on the Job Training

January 13, 2022

Seyda moved to BC from Ontario in 2020. Seyda has a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources from her home country, Pakistan. In Canada she has not been able to work in her field but had had jobs in customer service.

Seyda came to the Langley WorkBC Centre in June 2021 looking for job search assistance and connections to potential employers. Her goal was to find work in Administration / Marketing. Her Employment Placement Specialist (EPS) helped her with completing job applications and marketed Seyda directly to employers.

Seyda obtained several interviews with various companies and, in doing so, polished her interview skills. Although job search over the pandemic has been challenging, Seyda was open to exploring all kinds of job opportunities.

In July 2021, Seyda was offered an Administration / Marketing position with SleepWorks Medical. Her EPS used the Wage Subsidy Program which paid a portion of her wages and supported the employer to provide Seyda required on the job training. Her EPS provided ongoing support to ensure Seyda’s job success.

In January 2022, the Wage Subsidy finished, and Seyda is now a fully trained full-time employee of SleepWorks Medical. Both Seyda and her employer are very happy!
