Do you need training or education to enter or to get back into the workforce? WorkBC is here to help.

As a job seeker, you may need additional training or news skills to qualify for the jobs or careers you are best suited for and interested in; this might include a one-day certificate course, courses to complete high school, trades training or a longer program that leads to a diploma or a degree.

WorkBC offers a wide range of training opportunities you may be eligible for; in addition to funding for tuition and course costs, we may be able to support your childcare, transportation, living costs, and other costs.

To give you an idea of different training opportunities in WorkBC, here’s a brief overview:

Adult Basic Education and Academic Upgrading

Get support completing your high school graduation requirements and/or specific pre-requisites for higher levels of training or employment – programs and courses include:

  • Grades 8 through 12;
  • Basic literacy/numeracy;
  • English as a Second Language (ESL); and
  • BC Adult Graduation Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)

Skills Training
Gain a certificate, diploma, or degree to help you reach your employment goal – these may include:

  • An occupationally-specific under-graduate or post-graduate degree program (less than 2 year in length)
  • Foundation Trades Training programs (pre-apprentice/entry level trades training), and Level I of classroom training;
  • Training specific to the Aviation and Commercial driving industries; and
  • Work placements or practicums as part of a course curriculum (as defined in the StudentAid BC policy manual)
  • Short term, industry specific certificates (examples: Computer Skills, Emergency First Aid, SuperHost, Serving It Right, WHMIS)
